Really terrific movie, go see it if you haven’t already and prepare to shed a couple tears. I have not read the book but I’m planning on getting it soon and passing it around to friends. Originally my sister and I were going to watch the Glee 3D Concert  movie but persuaded her out of it. She told me she was glad we went to see this one instead :)

only not so much what with the horrible misogynistic director and fucked up race issues.

So I know it has nothing on the many fucked up aspects of this movie, but can we talk about how this poster is shot/photoshopped in a way that makes it look like Emma Stone’s dress is bunched up behind her like she decided to lift the back up and sit on that bench like it’s a toilet

I mean, I know bathrooms play an integral role in the plot but it’s odd nonetheless

Ok, right? I mean, I’ve been busy talking about the things that are fucked up about this movie, but I think we can also take a second to discuss the fact that someone thought that hair looked good on Emma. Obviously this is completely unimportant with everything else that is wrong here, but yes. The poster is weird, Emma’s hair is weird, what the hell.

Everything abut this movie is wrong as wrong can be, but yes this poster is icing on the cake. Also, can we talk about the hilarity of self proclaimed feminist calling this revisionist trash awesome?

It wasn’t until yesterday that I began researching on this movie and book. I had two minutes to decide on what movie to watch and The Help was the only one that was going to begin within the next fifteen minutes. I went in knowing nothing about the director or the film and my first impression of the film was a positive one. I’m late to the issues because I wasn’t looking for them but I’m glad I said something about now it because I’ve learned a lot from the commentary this has received. Instead of wanting to call out, “the hilarity of [this] self proclaimed feminist calling this revisionist trash awesome” you could have messaged me your opinion on the matter. I would have been grateful :)

Just a note: I have many opinions that can changed with good debate. If I ever post something unusual it’s probably because of missing information so instead of getting upset with me, how about sending me a direct message about it. We can chat and figure this all out.

You labor under the privileged assumption that it is my job to educate you. I’m on Tumblr for my own purposes, not to explain basic history or critical race theory to people who can’t be bothered to do their own heavy lifting. The fact that you think this attitude is remotely acceptable behavior just highlights my initial point.

I’m sorry, I don’t mean to offend you in a way, that’s not my intention. Maybe “you” was a bad word to choose here, how about “anyone”? I like to think of feminists on tumblr as a community. It’s how I’ve always seen it here on tumblr since I’ve joined and when someone isn’t clear on something I’ve seen people help each other. I know my basic history but I didn’t know about the issues behind this film.
