The New Year
I keep seeing posts about people wanting to change in 2012 and why would you want to? Instead of changing, how about developing instead? That’s what I want for myself this new year. Lets all collect life experiences and grow from them.

December 2011
mvianette asked: It felt almost like she was killing everything off quite suddenly, with this choppy, scargly (a made up word that calls forward the image of torn flesh), hollow ending. I felt like the book dies right around the same time we lose the real Katniss. I keep thinking, "This is the mutt version of the real book."

mvianette asked: A total of, maybe ten minutes ago, I finished the last book in the Hunger Games series... I feel the need to share that I do not know how I feel about the ending.

I never understood why
thenubianlily: the most boring books are considered the greatest works of literature. Someone, please tell me the reason! I no longer want to stay in the dark.  Maybe it’s because you don’t understand what you’re reading. Read summaries, reviews, reactions, and essays and maybe that’ll give you a better perspective on these “boring books.” Hopefully then...

aquar1an: Are all vegans also straight edge?! Gosh, I need some vegan friends to help me go vegan but if they’re all buzz-kill sober people, it’s never gonna happen! Because drinking alcohol is the only way to be a fun person at a party? What.

The Joureny.: Introduction to Vegetarianism: How... →
thejoureny: Vegetarianism is a groing trend right now with more and more people choosing it as their diet. Why? Everyone has their own different reasons, but all share in the many benefits. Vegetarianism makes sense to a lot of people. It entails more than just “eating like a rabbit”, it is a healthy way… Take it a step further and go vegan.

(Rant) Do men really dislike our hair...?
thecurlyhairproblems: I keep reading all of these articles in which “studies” have shown that men just prefer straight/wavy hair over curly. They give a variety of reasons - they can run their fingers through it, it looks healthier, it’s more neat, whatever. When they survey men, a lot of men say that they “don’t care”, but “prefer straight/wavy hair”.  I just want to know if it’s true. :P I...

aidehua: socalfeminist replied to your post: I find it interesting that people will reblog… Can you provide a post which exemplifies what you’re claiming? I’d like to see it and contribute. I can’t find a specific post but I’ll give an example after some brief background. I have issues with any image made of a woman done up to look sexualized for the purpose of selling something, at least at...

*Actually, not all bookworms will bite your head off. If you want to say hi or ask me what I’m reading then I’d be more than happy to talk about books with you. Not all bookworms are anti social beings that’ll spit fire if you so much as breath on them.

Eleven steps to a fresh start →
Instead of reading those ridiculous What’s in What’s out lists, we should instead devout our time to reflecting on how we will make 2012 a better year for ourselves. I believe in resolutions - yeah I know -  hear me out, resolutions are a great way to focus on what it is we need to work on. Take some time out of your schedule and just sit back, or walk, or run, and think about what it...

Butterball turkey farm raided after abuse claims →
The raid Thursday came after the nonprofit Mercy For Animals provided law enforcement with secretly recorded video footage that showed live turkeys being kicked, thrown, dragged by the neck and wings, and hit with some sort of stick or bar. The video was collected during several weeks in November and December by an activist who got a job at the company’s turkey semen collection facility in...

Encouraging Art
“We want Luna to be proud of all her art work, so we hang her art pieces using a wire mobile that hangs from the ceiling. The wire mobile was given to us by friends years ago, and was used in the past to hang a selection of patterned message cards that were written by guests at our wedding. Now, it’s the perfect device to display Luna’s creations.” - Nerissa  I love this....

Hollywood Roosevelt Gay Bashing Attack Reported:... →
Did you hear about the four people who were injured in a gay bashing attack at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel this month? I didn’t so I thought I might share it for those who didn’t hear about this.   “The victims were returning to their hotel rooms at about 2 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 19 (following a Saturday night outing) when they were attacked by a group of 10 people said to be gang...

DIY Instagram 2012 Calender
Planning on getting crafty this new year? Elsie from A Beautiful Mess blog can’t wait and has jumped right into getting crafty with a calender for 2012. This would have made a great Christmas gift, or can still be if your friend or family member doesn’t mind late gifts. Oh! This would make a great New Year’s gift! Is that a thing? Do you usually give gifts for the New Year? I...

tsotchke replied to your post: Haircut time! What leave-in do you use? Currently it’s been Neutrogena’s triple moisture silk touch leave in clean with UV shield. It’s not my bottle so I’m might switch it for something else but I have no complaints about this one.

Haircut time!
I’m getting two inches off my curls and an inch off my layers for more volume. I never like what salons put in my hair afterwards so I’m bringing my own conditioning leave in cream for when it’s over. I like to keep my hair curly so I pass on the blow drying and straightening when it’s offered.
